SENIOR SUB-GRANT OFFICER- ECONOMIC JUSTICE

Reporting to - Economic Justice Project Manager and Finance Manager
Staff reporting to this post - None
Locations - Amman, Jordan, with possible travels to other governorates

Job Purpose - Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities
The position will largely support the JoinUP! Creating an inclusive, more connected and better resourced social entrepreneurship eco-system in Jordan, which is a multi-year project on Social Entrepreneurship and economic inclusion financed by the European Union. The position will provide further support to other projects of similar nature as needed.


Main Responsibilities


The Senior Sub - Grant Officer is specifically responsible for the following tasks:
1. Participate in development of sub-granting manual outlining process, guidelines and selection criteria for sub-grantees (Social Enterprises)
2. Help in developing financial guidelines under the Call for Proposals
3. Conduct pre-award assessments of sub grantees and identify co-financing commitments from sub-grantees including capturing and documenting any in-kind commitments
4. Develop a voucher scheme for the sub-grantees to benefit from the services of social enterprise support organizations
5. In liaison with the Economic Justice Project Manager and with local partner, disburse grants to sub-grantees and ensure proper documentation of receipt
6. Work closely with Economic Justice Project Manager and with local partner to ensure efficient management of sub-grants.
7. Develop unified financial reporting templates to be used by the sub-grantees and the local partner
8. Liaise with sub grantees to ensure completeness, correctness and accuracy of sub-grantee financial reports.
9. Review sub-grant financial reports and supporting document and provide feedback as necessary including budget fluctuations, significant overspending or under spending and report to Economic Justice Project Manager.
10. Manage and track all sub-grant budgets and obligations.
11. Conduct financial performance of the sub-grantees and prepare reports thereof.
12. Help in reporting against indicators of financial nature


TRAINING AND MENTORING
▪ Coordinate, prepare for and conduct financial and compliance trainings and follow-up trainings for local partner and sub-grantees
▪ Work with project team to ensure that all logistical arrangements for financial training workshops are made and confirmed in a timely manner.
▪ Provide financial support and assistance to social enterprises as needed.


OTHER
▪ Any other duties as assigned by the Economic Justice Project Manager and the Finance Manager.


Technical Skills, Experience & Knowledge
Essential

▪ BA Degree in Accounting/Finance
▪ At least three years’ work experience in micro-financing or access to finance.
▪ Advanced Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint skills
▪ Ability to think creatively, highly-driven and self-motivated
▪ Arabic native speaker, good command of both written and verbal English.
▪ Displays cultural, gender, religion, race, nationality and age sensitivity and adaptability
Desirable
▪ Relevant working experience in grant management/sub-grants’ monitoring.
▪ Previous work with EU funded projects.
▪ Prior work experience in an NGO environment.
